Ivica Iliev joins Wisła Kraków

Serbian footballer Ivica Iliev has joined Wisła Kraków. The contract signed will be valid for two years.

Ivica Iliev was born on the 27th of October 1979 in Belgrade. His career began in FK Partizan with which he signed his first professional contract in 1997. He continued to play for Partizan until 2004, winning the league three times and the then Yugoslavia Cup. In 2004, he joined Italian club Messina from where after two years he was lent to Genoa. Then he played for PAOK, Energie Cottbus and Maccabi Tel Aviv. In 2010, he returned to Partizan that won the Serbian league for the fourth time in the row, complemented by a triumph in the Serbia Cup. With 13 goals scored, Iliev was the best scorer of the Serbian SuperLiga in the 2010/2011 season, obtaining the same result as Andrija Kaludjerovic from Red Star Belgrade.

Ivica Iliev played twice for the Serbia national team. In 2003, he played in a friendly match lost 3-4 against Poland in Płock. He scored one goal.

Iliev was encouraged to join Wisła by Dragan Paljić. “He told me that Wisła has fantastic fans and that Kraków is a beautiful city. In his opinion, Poland has a good league, and I believe its value is going to grow, as Poland is going to host the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship. Dragan told me that the stadium is nice too” – says Ivica.

Ivica Iliev is going to play for Wisła with number 77.
